Material Composition and Density
The Traeger Signature Blend (model PEL402) is produced in American mills utilizing 100% natural virgin hardwoods. The formulation relies entirely on the natural lignins present in the timber to bind the compressed cylinders, excluding artificial glues, oils, or chemical binders. The blend integrates three primary wood species: hickory for robust baseline smoke, maple for mild sweetness, and cherry for aromatic profile and surface mahogany coloring on cooked meats. Traeger monitors moisture levels during extrusion to maintain consistent structural density. This compact cell design resists crumbling into fine dust within the hopper, a critical specification because excessive fines cause auger jams and uneven combustion rates. Measuring at standard diameter, these pellets move cleanly through standard motorized mechanical auger systems without bridging in standard angled feed bins.
