Design and build
The MEION distribution tool eschews the porous timber frequently found in budget espresso accessories in favor of an all-metal construction. Both the tool body and the counter stand are fabricated from an aluminum alloy, offering improved washability and resistance to grounds accumulation. The seven working needles are made from 304 food-grade stainless steel with a diameter of 0.35 mm. This specific gauge is thin enough to avoid plowing deep trenches into dry grinds while retaining sufficient tensile strength to break up electrostatically charged clumps. The package includes a dedicated storage tube containing seven additional replacement needles, addressing the inevitable bending that occurs with ultra-fine wires over months of daily use. Threading the needles into the knurled cap requires steady hands, but the internal layout holds the wires securely once tightened. While the combined weight of 5.3 ounces across packaging indicates lightweight materials, the stand retains enough stability for daily work surfaces.
